and the winners is

Congratulations to the winners of the Club’s annual trophies which were presented at the AGM last night.

Well done to Dave Wainwright who collected both the T.O. Mounter and Sons Cup for the Largest Migratory Fish ( 13lb 8 oz Salmon) by a senior member and the T.O. Mounter Memorial Trophy for the First Salmon (8lb) caught by a senior member.

Congratulations to Dave Chadwick  who picked up the JT Bell Memorial Cup for the First Sea Trout  by a Senior Member a fish of 6lb.

The Dr. Crichton Cup for the Largest Brown Trout by a Senior Member is now pride of place on the mantel piece of Ian White for a 1lb 2oz fish.

Ian also took away the Dr Chesters Senior Trophy , generously sponsored by Anglers Lodge at Jubilee Lakes with £200 of vouchers. Our thanks once again to Anglers Lodge and congratulations to Ian White who now has two trophies above the fire place.

The KD Johnson Challenge Trophy fished at Tunstall Reservoir was won by Norman Fletcher with a Rainbow Trout of 2lb 8oz.

The next rising star from the Johnson family is Thomas Johnson who won both the Millennium Trophy Junior Competition and the Dr. O’Grady Trophy for the Largest Brown Trout by a Junior Member with a fish of 1lb.

The Challenge Cup for the Largest Migratory Fish by a Junior Member received no entries.

Congratulations to all our winners.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General meeting took place last night, our thanks to all who attended and contributed to the discussions.

More details will follow, at this time the headlines are that Senior fees remain unchanged for the coming year at £75 for renewal with a £10 joining fee for new members.

Honourariums will continue as previously agreed, increasing by £5 each year until reaching half of the senior price. Therefore this year Honourariums will increase to £35.

A restructure of Junior fees was agreed in an attempt to attract more junior members. Juniors will now be free up to the age of 16.

It was agreed to simplify and streamline the rule book without any change to rules except the current Rule 12 which was changed to :

  • Waste nylon must not be left on the river bank, take all litter home and dispose of it in the correct manner.

This reflects the wider public concerns about plastics in the environment where cutting nylon line into small pieces as previously required is no longer appropriate.

A new trophy will be introduced to reflect the growing number of ladies joining the club. This will be fished by our lady members on the same day as the senior trophy and will be named after Angela Moralee in recognition of the longstanding support that we have enjoyed from our riparian owners.

In further recognition of their support Mr Andrew Moralee Snr. has agreed to become President of the club replacing Dr. E Chesters who has given up the position after many years. We wish to thank Eddie for his many years of support.

Renewal notices will arrive on your doormats in the near future. Fees will be collected at Willington Cricket Club on March 10th however, we are pleased to be able to save members the journey because we are now able to take electronic payments, details of how to do this will be included with your renewals.

We thank you for your continued support of Willington and District Angling Club and hope you have a very enjoyable and productive season.
