Grayling Day

We apologise for being unable to post this news earlier and hope you received the e-mail early in the week.

An early decision was taken to postpone the Grayling Day with the river running high and coloured and more rain forecast.

We will now have one last attempt to run the event, NEXT Sunday. Hopefully we will have favourable conditions this time around as reward for your patience.

Apologies once more.

GRAYLING DAY Postponed

Sorry.

With the river running high and coloured and with more rain forecast the decision has been made to postpone the Grayling Day. we will now revert to the standby date of December 1st 2019 and hope for some dryer conditions.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but look forward to seeing you at the re-arranged event.

2019 4th Annual Grayling Day

It’s back!

Our 4th annual Grayling Day will take place on Sunday November 17th. This time we have also planned a back up date.

In the event that the river is not in suitable condition the event will be re-arranged for Sunday December 1st 2019. Non members have an opportunity to sample the Waters at Willington but please register your interest early.

This is a great opportunity for anglers to sample Grayling fishing on our waters, to get anglers interested in Grayling Fishing and to try and to continue to monitor the levels of grayling present in our waters.
The event will again attended by Stuart Wardle who is a an England International Fly angler and Guide as well as the Regional secretary for the Grayling Society and has a wealth of knowledge in relation to this beautiful fish and the techniques required, as well as members of the Grayling Society, who will be able to advise members on techniques and tackle to tackle these fantastic fish.
The agenda for the day will be as follows :
Please meet at Jubilee Bridge carpark Grid Reference NZ 20859 34407, Nearest postcode DL15 0DJ  for approximately 10am with a view to commence fishing from 11am.

The Lady is waiting

As we move towards the end of the Trout season anglers will be turning their thoughts towards the Lady of the Stream.

Happily we now have a well established Graying population with some excellent fish regularly reported.

GRAYLING FISHING FOR MEMBERS

As a W&DAC member your membership covers winter Grayling fishing. Just go out and enjoy.

NON MEMBERS’GRAYLING FISHING

Day tickets are available from Sheldon’s Newsagents in Willington, but we offer a really great value Winter Grayling Membership which will see you through to the close season in March. Only £25 for the winter, just contact the secretary.

Of course this runs out just in time for the Trout season to start again. Once you become familiar with our waters there’s every chance that you will want to take out full membership for the season ahead too.

ANNUAL GRAYLING DAY

We are planning to repeat our highly successful Grayling Days in November when non-members can come along and join us for a day’s fishing to sample what we have on offer. Watch this site for more details.

Have a great winter. Tight Lines.

River Fly Monitoring

The wealth and health of river flies in all their forms is possibly the back bone of angling, even if you’re not a fly fisherman the fish you seek rely heavily upon the invertebrates as a food source while the numbers and variety are a strong indicator of the health of the river.

You can become involved in monitoring and supporting the health of the river through River Fly Monitoring. Details of a forthcoming workshop are provided here. An opportunity to get involved.IMG_2832 (1)
