Not what you might expect on a F-Fly.

The recent good weather has had a good number of anglers on the river with some excellent fish being caught.

Wild Brown Trout of 16 and 18 inches have been reported with others not far behind. Three visitors from Sunderland fishing on day tickets took away memories of a cracking day which included a 3.5lb Chubb. The picture here is of another similar sized fish, this time taken by a Willington member of a small F-Fly.

We have been contacted by the police who have had a fly rod and reel handed in by a member of the public. It was found in the Pagebank area.

We have a small change to our stocking this year.

Previously fish have been marked with a black spot however this year in an attempt to reduce the handling required to distinguish a stockie from a wild fish the adipose fin has been removed.

Please do all you can to return wild fish to the river quickly with as little harm as possible, quick recognition should help with this. Thank you.

Congratulations to Dylan Clegg winner of the Millennium trophy which was fished on Sunday May 14th.

The junior anglers met at Jubilee Bridge for a 2:30pm start, by 5:00pm Dylan weighed in his winning fish with a trout of 15oz taking the prize.

This years Junior Competition for the Millennium Trophy will be fished this Sunday (May  14th).

Junior members wishing to take part please meet at the Jubilee Car Park ready for a 2:30PM start.
