Fly of the Month

What fly to use? When? How to fish it and how to tie it. All part of the Fly Fisherman’s conundrum.

For 2018 we are running a Fly of the Month feature with some of the flies which you might want to tie and fish.

For the more experienced angler and fly tiers this may be nothing new, for others, new to our sport or novice fly tyers we hope it will prove helpful. For everyone we hope you find it interesting with fly patterns, links to videos and thoughts about how to fish the featured flies.

Please send your suggestions for Fly of the Month, for March and the start of the Trout season we are kicking off with a couple of very popular old favourites. The partridge and Orange Spider ( known to our American friends as “soft hackle”) and the Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear Nymph. Flies which can be fished throughout the season in more than one way.

We hope you enjoy the feature.
