Crook Beck Clean Up

Crook Beck clean up Sunday 20/08/2017

A message from the Club Secretary
I have been in touch with Wear Rivers Trust and have met down at the beck with their Senior Project Officer Steve Hudson. I can confirm that permission has been granted by the land owner (D.C.C.) for the clean up to take place and this will be an event organised by Wear Rivers Trust. Steve will be attending on the day to take part and supervise.
We will be meeting on Sunday 20/08/2017 at 09:00 at the end of Glenholme drive next to Bradbury House (I’ve attached a maps image of the meeting point). To be covered by Wear Rivers Trust insurance you need to be a registered volunteer. I have attached a link to their registration form. This can be completed and emailed to the address on the form or it can be brought along on the day. If you wish to complete a form on the day myself and Steve will be at the meeting point from 08:45with a stock of forms. You can still take part in the event without registering but will not be covered by insurance.
Bags, litter picking tools and gloves will be provided, all you need is a pair of boots or wellies and yourself. All rubbish will be taken away on the day and any large items will be removed by the council next day.
Chatting with Steve, he said that this will be their first project on the beck and if there is some local support there may be a chance of further projects taking place not just to remove rubbish from the beck, but also to improve the environment for wildlife in the area.
This is a great opportunity to improve an area of Crook. Let’s get out there and get stuck in!
