Stocked Trout and C&R

The 1st stocked fish of the season have now had a little time to settle into the river. They can be recognised by a black dot (similar to the picture but maybe a little closer to the mouth and gills).

Black Spot identifies our Triploid Trout. Members will enjoy some excellent sport through the summer.

The stocked trout are infertile, Triploids, in line with EA regulations. This presents the club with a Catch and Release opportunity.

The club does not have a hard and fast rule for C&R other than to encourage anglers to practice this whenever suitable. If you are considering taking fish for the table then please remember that the marked, stock fish, will not breed while the non-marked wild fish will. Keeping the stocked fish and returning the wild fish will have a real benefit to the river.
