Is there such a thing as a wasted trip to the river ?
Weekend rains brought a sharp rise in river levels on Sunday, running off and clearing today. Good news is that while the water was coloured it was not as bad as has been the case in the past couple of years. Maybe the end of the opencast at Roddymoor has helped.
More rain is forecast throughout the week ahead but there is no need to get caught out when you reach the river bank. Follow the link at the side of this page to access the Environment Agency web page showing river levels for the Wear and other rivers in our region.
Another link takes you to the upstream fish counts where you can keep in touch with numbers of migratory fish running through the fish counter at Framwellgate Bridge. Again this also allows anglers to view figures for other rivers in the region.
and don’t forget to let us know when you have a great day’s fishing.
