2019 Membership Book

The new trout season is rapidly approaching, rods ready, reels ready, waders leaking ! lines cleaned, tippet, flies, EA licence, MEMBERSHIP.

If you’ve not had chance to renew yet don’t hang about, either use the renewal slip in your 2018 membership book, or go to the membership tab on this site and get your application off to the secretary as son as so that we can get your renewal back to you quickly.

Senior and Junior fees remained unchanged at the AGM for the coming season.

New members may apply using the forms on the membership page.

The AGM took place as scheduled on Tuesday February 5th 2019 at Willington Cricket Club. Thanks go out to all who attended.

Fees remain unchanged for the coming season except that Honourary Memberships rise to £25 in line with the decision taken at the previous AGM.

Fee collection will take place at Willington Cricket Club on March 5th 2019 between 7:15 pm and 9:30pm, or by post to the secretary, addressed to Shaun O’Dowd. 2, MacMillan Drive, Crook. Please don’t forget to enclose your payment.

Members who are renewing from the current 2018/19 season should use the renewal slip, new members and former members are asked to complete the membership application form. xlxs and pdf versions are available from the membership section of this site at all times and included here for your convenience.

The Annual General meeting of Willington & District Angling Club takes place on the Tuesday 5th February 2019 at Willington Cricket Club commencing at 7:30pm.

Set your reminder now.

Sunday December 2nd sees Tunstall Fly Fishers hosting the Fur and Feathers Fly Fishing Competition in aid of the Solan Conor Fawcett Family Trust. Fished between 9:00am and 3:00pm.

Entry fee is £5 and a prize, with all money raised going to the charity.

Anglers are required to bring along a prize, for example a bottle of wine, box of biscuits  or the like. These will be the prizes to be fished for.

The winner will be the heaviest bag (no bag limit) on the day and will choose first from the prizes available.

There is no need to register, just turn up on the day with a prize and a fiver, support a great charity and enjoy a great days fishing.

The Angling Trust along with University College London are undertaking a survey looking into Angling and  Invasive species.

The aim of the survey is to understand where anglers are travelling in the UK and abroad, and current levels of awareness of invasive species. The findings will then be used to provide better advice on what you can do to stop them from being introduced into our waters.

The survey should take about 10 minutes  to complete and can be found at

As the Game Fishing Season draws to a close please don’t forget, if you fish for migratory fish it is a requirement of your licence to complete a catch return and send it to the EA.

At the same time please don’t forget how valuable catch returns are to your club, not just migratory fish, all fish, stockies, wild trout and anything else you may catch. Anyone who has fished the ponds can provide really valuable insight into the condition of the fishing there. The more knowledge we have of the fish in our waters the better we can manage those waters or react to issues.

TEES SALMON WEEKEND VISITOR BEATS

Below is a list of the beats available for visitors joining in with the Tees Salmon Weekend.

Please note that you MUST enrol to fish on these beats, as some areas have limited availability. Marshalls will be on hand to help anglers on all beats. To enrol please call Olly on 0785056870.

You must posses an EA Migratory rod licence and carry it with you.

Rules apply for each individual beat.

Our 3rd Grayling Day will take place on Sunday November 11th. In the event that the river is not fishable that day the planned back-up date is 2 weeks later on the 25th.

The River Tees Salmon Fishing Survey

There is to be a River Tees ‘salmon fishing survey’ over two days on the last weekend in October.

The idea is to get as many rods as possible to fish on one or both of these two days and record catches etc with a view to putting the results to the EA.

The fishing would be free and details of the beats available and registration details will be available soon. Put the dates in your diary and watch this space for further info.

Salmon fishing and salmon stocks are subjects dear to our hearts but its fair to say under threat unless positive people take positive action, including putting meaningful information to the EA. The Tees has its own unique issues and any help putting together a clear picture will be invaluable.
