The Lady is waiting

As we move towards the end of the Trout season anglers will be turning their thoughts towards the Lady of the Stream.

Happily we now have a well established Graying population with some excellent fish regularly reported.

GRAYLING FISHING FOR MEMBERS

As a W&DAC member your membership covers winter Grayling fishing. Just go out and enjoy.

NON MEMBERS’GRAYLING FISHING

Day tickets are available from Sheldon’s Newsagents in Willington, but we offer a really great value Winter Grayling Membership which will see you through to the close season in March. Only £25 for the winter, just contact the secretary.

Of course this runs out just in time for the Trout season to start again. Once you become familiar with our waters there’s every chance that you will want to take out full membership for the season ahead too.

ANNUAL GRAYLING DAY

We are planning to repeat our highly successful Grayling Days in November when non-members can come along and join us for a day’s fishing to sample what we have on offer. Watch this site for more details.

Have a great winter. Tight Lines.

Most rods caught fish and at the weigh-in the best Brown Trout was returned by Ian White with a fish of 1lb 2oz.

We have a new name on the Millennium Trophy this year. The competition for Millennium Trophy for Junior members was held on Sunday and our congratulations go to Thomas Johnson for the best fish of the day a 1lb Brown Trout.

Junior members wishing to take part please meet at the Jubilee Car Park ready for a    2:30 PM start.

The river was recently stocked and promises to be in prime fishing condition, a great day to be had by all.

Ferryham Waters

With effect from today May 1st 2019 we regret that Willington District Angling Club members are no longer able to fish the Ferryham Waters on the Rivers Wear and Browney  which we have previously accessed through an agreement with another club. That club has now ended the lease agreement with the riparian owner meaning that we no longer have access.

The club is always interested in new opportunities for our members and would be pleased to hear from members if they become aware of any fishing which may become  available.

Anglers Lodge Open Day

He’ll be giving casting tips while anglers are trying the rods and he’ll also help anglers to match fly-lines either to new rods or to their own rods if they bring them along.

Need advice – Jim’s the man! It’s this coming Saturday from 10a.m. to 2p.m. Just call in. Always a good day and it’s free!

Gavin Cleminson Angling Auction.

The link here will take you to details of an auction of fishing tackle from Gavin Cleminson.

Gavin was a regular fly fisher who  sadly lost his battle with cancer, his daughter is holding a fund raising auction  selling off his tackle. The best wishes and condolences of the angling community go out to his family and our hope is the auction will be well supported.

Thank you.
